Amy is a pink hedgehog with brown eyes, and is of a relatively average height for a Mobian, standing at just under three and a half foot. Her quills are arranged to spike upwards at the back, and she has a fringe falling slightly over her eyes. Typically, she will wear some description of headband – this is usually red. As for clothing, Amy generally favours a loose-fitting t shirt with a red logo on it (this logo can vary, though it is most frequently a heart), white gloves, a plaid skirt, opaque black tights and a rather battered pair of purple trainers.

Amy serves as something of an irritant. She's a flirt, a tease, and seems to take pleasure in annoying people – Sonic seems to be a favourite target, though she seems to look for the weaknesses in all her friends, exploiting them for her own amusement. This also means she is quite manipulative, and she does often come up with some kind of scheme to get her way. Occasionally, she can be quite forceful about it.
Despite this, she genuinely cares for her friends, and will act as a voice of reason. She does not accept the idea of making sacrifices, and as far as she's concerned, lives always take priority, no exceptions. Her practicality and resourcefulness has placed her in a respectable position as far as the Freedom Fighters are concerned – she is a competent leader, and acts as a second-in-command.

abilities and strengths
An exceptionally resourceful character, Amy can turn almost any situation to her advantage. She is a quick thinker, always aware of her surroundings, and can assess a person's motivations and twist them to benefit her – even when in a hostage situation. She seems to keep a cool head on her at all times.
Amy is also accomplished at archery, able to use both a crossbow and a longbow, and her aim is exceptional. She makes her own bows, arrows and bolts, often with specific purposes in mind.

Despite her resourcefulness and her skill with a bow, Amy is physically quite weak, and a bit useless when it comes to close-range combat. This has lead to her being taken hostage on multiple occasions, and she is often seen as an easy target.
A major problem Amy seems to have is her tendency to taunt and enrage her enemies. This, as a general rule, only seems to serve to draw attention upon herself, and often causes enemies to target her specifically.

history
Amy Rose became a member of the Freedom Fighters supposedly for her own protection. After having claimed to be Sonic's girlfriend (despite the fact it seemed that they had never even met) while Mobius was under the rule of Doctor Robotnik, she was made something of a target. Considering her behaviour, it can very easily be assumed that this was a deliberate scheme on Amy's part, to get more closely involved with the fight against Robotnik's rule.
The Freedom Fighters seemed to view her as something of a burden to begin with. However, even in those early days, she proved herself useful in multiple ways. While her accuracy was certainly the most significant of her contributions to the team, she acted as a much-needed voice of reason, and because she can keep cool under pressure, she even negotiated a business deal in the middle of a hostage situation rather than playing the helpless captive.
During this time, she lived in a secret base situated within the Emerald Hill Zone, along with the others in her team. However, shortly after encountering Knuckles, the location of their base was revealed to Robotnik. From then on, the team (in disguise) moved across Mobius in a caravan, as "Bob Beaky's Travelling Circus," with Tails' plane in tow. Although they do perform for audiences while they travel, they continued the fight against Robotnik.
Unfortunately, everything changes sooner or later. It was rather sudden and completely unexpected when things went disastrously wrong. Sonic the Hedgehog, as a result of an exposure to Chaos Energy, had for a very long time been able to transform into an uncontrollable, chaotic, almost demonic form of himself when placed under stress. Super Sonic's powers were undoubtedly over the top and incredibly dangerous, far beyond what Sonic was capable of under normal situations. When in this form, friends and enemies alike were in danger.
During a visit to the Floating Island, Sonic managed to expose himself to yet more Chaos Energy, falling into the chamber where the Emeralds were kept. This essentially caused him to both transform into Super Sonic, and grant his chaotic self both more power and more consciousness as an individual. Super Sonic began to develop a personality, and this made him even more dangerous. With Super Sonic developing a hatred for his host body, he made Sonic's friends his first target.
Due to quick thinking on Amy's part, Super was tricked into thinking the Freedom Fighters had been killed while they had in fact managed to escape. However, during the fight, they lost both the caravan and the plane. Sonic himself, after recovering his own mind, was absolutely devastated by the destruction he saw, and ran away, not realising that his friends had survived.
Since then, Sonic has been exceptionally unbalanced emotionally, triggering outbursts where Super Sonic is granted complete freedom to terrorise Mobius. Zones have been completely obliterated, and the citizens of Mobius live in constant fear – even Robotnik, who has made every effort to survive and keep the control he had. As the situation worsens, Sonic suffers more and more, and Super's control over him strengthens.
With Sonic as he is, Amy dares not approach him when he believes his friends dead. However, she follows him, a plan in her mind to take the energy that Super consists of and send it somewhere else – the Special Zone, perhaps. She is absolutely terrified, but it has to be done. Mobius is currently the toy of a chaos-based being that can destroy it with a thought, being played with. How much longer until Super decides that merely toying with everyone is boring?
Unfortunately, when she was finally ready to face Super Sonic once again, the unpredictable just had to happen. Amy was pulled to another world...
